Here's a little scare story to lead us into Halloween...
In 2008, the Pentagon's inspector general issued a report on contingency planning for the military's mission-critical information systems (translation: computers). According to the report, we are way behind the power curve on network defense. In other words, a clever computer-savvy enemy could wreak havoc via keystroke. So now the military is working to recruit hackers to counter-stroke on our behalf. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought our own folks over at DARPA were the go-to dudes for anything related to computer networks (sorry, Mr. Gore; but they invented the Internet). But now we have to find hackers to keep us safe from harm? Ay, yi, yi...
