Weblog Awards Voting Begins Today: Vote Early and Often!

Actually, you can't vote until the polls officially open. This is scheduled to happen some time today. No need to check obsessively for the green light... I'll do that for you. Just rest assured that by midnight tonight, you will have your first opportunity to cast your click in favor of this blog in the Hidden Gem category. As I explained a few days ago, the category designation means that in terms of readership, I don't run with the likes of fellow finalists Arianna Huffington, Britney Spears, Wonkette, or The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan; but I am holding my own amongst peers within my circulation category. It also means that I am spared the humiliation of competing with the likes of Milblogging.com, Blackfive, or the rest of the slate of military blog heavy hitters (whew).

This year, more than 5,000 blogs were nominated. Competition was stiff, but awards maven Kevin Aylward and his team of caffeine-fueled judges distilled the nominees into Top Ten finalists in multiple categories. Once again, I extend to them my heartfelt thanks. And now: the obsessive checking begins. If you need a little something to help you help ease the agonizing wait until the polls open, you could always amuse yourself by reading the complete list of Weblog Awards finalists.
