This morning a British talent producer sent an email that prompts me to break the radio silence I've been maintaining over the C.J. Grisham affair.
Background brief: Earlier this year, a group of musicians and singers gathered at London's famed Abbey Road Studios to record a stirring anthem, "We Will Remember Them." The song honors troops killed in action. The stellar musical group includes The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pipes & Drums from the Scottish Regiments, Michael Bolton, Robin Gibb, and singers your kids would recognize. It was the biggest-ever one-day session at Abbey Road. As you will see, the result is GORGEOUS. The recording supports an excellent cause. All proceeds from the downloads / CD sales in the UK will go to Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion. The soldiers themselves - and their families - love the song. In Britain, it even has been played at the funerals of troops killed in action in Afghanistan.
Now here's the kicker. The vaunted BBC in London refuses to sign on. The song producers have asked the Beeb to put the song on its playlist, but - my contact writes - the broadcast giant has "chosen not to support this track and seem to be snubbing us every time we approach them with the single (both with TV and Radio)."
My contact wrote to me for help: "The United States are far more patriotic than the UK, and it would be great to have your support with this...."
You got it, Mate. Here's your story, and here's your song. I'm trying to reach the Beeb for comment, but I want to get the word out now.
Do yourselves a favor, folks. Take a moment to watch this vid and absorb the beautiful anthem.
