Writing Competition Update: A Tantalizing Tidbit

Remember the Writing Competition? As announced previously, this blog's sister site, UniformEnCounters, is hosting a fundraiser/writing competition. The contest benefits wounded troops, soldier morale, and individual writers. Entrants were asked to write an essay, short story, or poem about the U.S. Armed Forces or their allies.

Well... the entry deadline has passed, and we are in in Phase Two: Picking the winners. The judges are on lockdown, chained to their computers. They'll be allowed out for Christmas, of course, but they are charged with picking the winners in time for the January announcement.

All remains secret for now, but I can divulge one tidbit. When I designed the contest, I planned to include only essays and short stories. At the last minute, I added poetry - just as an afterthought. Guess which category had the most entrants? Yep: poetry!

Stay tuned...
