Now to the serious stuff. Folks, we have a situation. As reported this morning by MSMers at Fox News, a nationwide alert has been issued for 17 Afghan mil-folks missing from Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
The Afghan officers and enlisted men have security badges that give them access to secure U.S. defense installations, according to the lookout bulletin, "Afghan Military Deserters in CONUS [Continental U.S.]," written by Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Dallas and obtained by FoxNews.com. The Be-On-the-Lookout (BOLO) bulletin was distributed to local and federal law enforcement officials.
So. This makes you envision some sort of mass breakout involving a hijacked bus or overpowered guards or late-night fence scaling with foam thrown over the barbed wire.... right?
Wrong. According to the report, this was not a mass escape, but instead was a gradual trickle that took place over the course of two years. And that's not all.
In 2009, the Defense Language Institute English Language Center reported two other students from countries other than Afghanistan went missing. They include one Iraqi who requested asylum in Houston and one Djiboutian whose status is unknown. To date in 2010, one student from Tunisia and one from Guinea Bissau have gone AWOL in addition to the Afghani student [Aryan] who went AWOL in January.
And the all-points bulletin is just being issued now? People, people, people: WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT? We are at war. We have been hit on the homefront before; remember?
Two things:
1. Catch these people. Now. Put their faces out on every news channel and shopping mall checkout stand, where you are likely to catch the greatest number of
2. Transfer the imbeciles who were responsible for keeping track of these foreigners into a position where they will learn to appreciate the meaning of national security. Don't put them in charge of actual operations where they might have to make crucial decisions. Assign them a support role, such as, delivering extra water to the troops who actually fight this war. I suggest an ISAF unit in Afghanistan. Better yet, in keeping with the spirit of foreign exchange programs, an Isreali Defense Forces infantry platoon.

My question: WHY have no pictures been released of these people, or did I miss that?
You read my mind...
