Supreme Court Says Even Jody* Can Steal Your Valor

And now, thanks to the SCOTUS, anyone - anyone - can claim a warrior's valor, to the point of falsely wearing his medals. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

Dear Supreme Court Justices: What is wrong with you people?

*If you understand the reference: Thank you, always, for your service. And may God bless you and your fellows.

I guess now I get to wear my 4 star general Marine, Navy, Air force, Army uniform ya know the one that shows I was a Navy seal, Sniper, Delta force Fighter pilot Air borne Ghost shadow warrior who was awarded every medal that can be displayed on a uniform. Why not it is legal now. Why actually earn an award or medal when ya can lie about it What a slap in the face to all of us who put on the uniform.

Lets not forget the health care FUBAR.

The police state is now complete now that the government can force us to purchase services we don't want they can mandate everything. I want to thank the cowards of the supreme court for throwing us to the wolves and thank you to obama and the rest of the communists.

The Supreme Court can no longer be trusted to protect the people of this great country. The ramifications of this miscarriage of justice will be profound and I hope it will lead to the defeat of most if not all Democrats in November - including the 'one.'

The court applied the Commerce Clause remedy to the proposed legislation and they couldn't make it fit as unconstitutional.
The best shot would be to apply Obamacare to the Sixtheeth Amendment. However, within XVI Amendment, Article 1 Section 8 Clause 1 does in fact state that Congress has powers to collect in common defense and general welfare of the USA. The court basically had a catch-all in this case. They opted for the easiest out they were provided with. That judicial remedy was being sought at the Federal level is reaching. The Court basically kicks it back to the States here. Cowards.

Here's what I'm going to do:

Go to J&S Surplus in Moss Landing, buy up all the medals I can ranging from WWI to current day. I want to wear a tunic festooned with medals akin to a Nigerian General.

After that, I'm going to quit my job, refuse to pay taxes, and insist on government support because, after all, NON-Producers are more highly valued than Producers.

Thank God for John Roberts and His decision today.

Bring on the Death Panels! Provide me my Free Cheese!

Excelsior!

With the logic arrived at by the Court today in striking DULY ENACTED legislation is nothing more than lying becoming protected speech. The First Amendment, we all know, applies many ways: you can say anything you want, you can say anything you want that's not true, and you also have the right to make a complete ass of yourself as well. 'Merica :\

Sue, over at the Castle, the same basic concept came up in response to this mess.

Here is my response to “Name 'em and Shane 'em”. The question becomes how do we do it? Is all speech free? In a crowded movie theater, y'all don't yell “FIRE”! In the airliner at 50 K feet, y'all say “Hello John", and never yell “Hi–Jack”! Under what realm of the Federal Court is the place that we name 'em? Then what? I think you're a picture of the accused with the fake awards being worn. Then we compare this with the “Official Documents”. But we also look for differences. The individual has the right to ask the VA and DOD for assistance in locating the documents, after everything is accumulated, the Federal Judge will render his findings. The accused individual has a limited amount of time to request an appeal. If the Federal Judge refuses an appeal, then the accused must sign the document in agreement. From now on, we take only the signed agreement from the federal judge and the photograph and put them into a packet. It should be an order from the US District Court that this packet should be part of every record in this man's life, for the rest of the life of the accused individual.

NO FINES OR JAIL TIME.

I have a funny feeling that if I claimed to be a Supreme Court justice, or --- as per Grumpy --- forgot to say "Hi, John" on an airplane, my speech would not be as free as these impostors'.

Naturally, I have to play devil’s advocate but before I start I must say that as a Veteran; I am completely for the Stolen Valor Act. I have been known to publically call out people pretending to be soldiers when they clearly are not. That being said, I can see why this would be unconstitutional. It is still considered a Freedom of Speech issue. Everyone fears government control (more so as of late). What kind of government would we be considered if we limited what people wear or didn’t wear? Also, how come no one ever got upset whenever an actor/actress portrayed a soldier by wearing our uniform? Essentially, they are doing the same thing just they are paid. It’s not like actors/actress haven’t used the uniform for unjust praise. I knew a squid in the Navy who was assigned to the USS Enterprise during the filming of “Top Gun.” Apparently, Tom Cruise would waltz around the carrier and get pissed whenever the enlisted and lower ranking officers would fail to render him a salute. (HA!) Logically, if we are going to apply the Stolen Valor Act to the average US citizen then we should apply it to Hollywood. Now, one could counter with “well, there is a law which states all actors/actresses must have some discrepancy in their uniform so they would not be considered as portraying real soldiers.” My answer to that is: There is no such law. When you see discrepancies in uniforms on the silver screen it is due to wardrobe being unaware of how uniforms are assembled or wardrobe deciding “Hey, let’s change things around a bit to make these soldiers look more bad*$%.” Again, as much as I hate to write this, I can see from a particular why this is considered unconstitutional therefore legally something in which we cannot enforce upon our citizens.

SKK, quite to the contrary, you *shall* say, "Hello, John". You shall never say the word. "Hi", this was the natural prefix to the word, "Jack". Failures always put you in the center of undesired attention. This is a tiny detail, but it shows a great a deal about the times.
